The University of Colorado Boulder is issuing a new request for proposals to relocate three bungalows from the Grandview Terrace area.
?During the earlier request for proposal process conducted over the past summer and fall we did not receive any proposals that met the qualifications, however, if it?s feasible we would like to see the houses relocated and preserved,? said CU-Boulder Director of Real Estate Jeff Lipton. ?In talking with the city staff we thought it would be worth issuing the request for proposals one more time.?
In July the university announced a request for proposals from qualified house movers and contractors to relocate the houses from 1220, 1243 and 1244 Grandview Ave. and an amendment was issued in August to increase the funds available for repair and relocation based on a partnership with the city of Boulder. All three of the bungalows date from around the 1920s.
The university will pay $50,000 toward the costs of moving each house once a submission has been accepted and the house is relocated successfully, minus costs to CU for asbestos abatement. This is roughly equivalent to what CU would spend to demolish the houses.
The city of Boulder will pay an individual an additional sum of $50,000 if the property is relocated within the city of Boulder and an application for landmarking the building is submitted.
Under the revised schedule, opportunities for a walkthrough and inspection of the properties will be held on Dec. 20 and a mandatory pre-proposal conference will be held Jan. 3. The proposal evaluation and selection period will be conducted from Jan. 17 through Jan. 24 and the contract award notification is estimated to go out on Feb. 1.
Interested parties should read the full request for proposals (RFP) and the addendum, which will be available next week at http://www.colorado.edu/facilitiesmanagement/pdc/construction/open.html
