Crafting is not something I particularly good at but I still find it fun and relaxing. It?s even more fun when it?s something easy enough for the kids to get involved.
Like today, Emma and I were home alone and looking for a fun project to do together. It just so happened that I got an email from HP & Snapfish sharing some fun Valentine?s Day projects and after some browsing through the themed crafts we found one that looked like fun.
This 3D Rose Paper Flower only requires a trusty HP printer, paper, scissors and tape. The instructions also suggest glue, a whole punch, butter knife and ruler but we got by without those.
To make this you simply print out the craft project. It?s meant to be printed double-sided but that?s one setting I haven?t figured out on my printer yet so we just used the front. As it turns out, it gives you a really cool two-toned look to the rose.
The instructions are easy to follow and we even added a straw to make the stem a bit sturdier. If you?re making these to hand out to a grade-school class you could even use pencils wrapped inside the paper stem.
When it?s all done, you?ve got a sweet little rose (that doesn?t need watered) to share with someone you love.

Crafty Valentine?s Tips from HP
Valentine?s Day presents a special opportunity to express how much you care for your friends and loved ones.? Most of us want to find a way to celebrate without spending a ton of money.? Here are a few tips on some DIY Valentine projects using your PC, laptop, or printer to keep your family occupied and your wallet full.
Tip #1: Make it easy for kids to get in the Valentine?s spirit by letting them create custom cards for their class.? Have your kids use apps like Fresh Paint on Windows 8 devices or other drawing apps to craft their own cards and make something really special. Once your kids design their cards, print them out for the class or email them to family members to share the love.
Tip #2: Don?t forget about your family far away.? Use your computer?s built-in webcam to record a video e-card to send to grandparents and other relatives to let them know you?re thinking about them.
Tip #3: Nothing says ?I Love You? more than freshly baked cookies.? Have your kids use the Internet to look up their favorite cookie recipe and make a batch for their class.? Be sure to print out a label with the ingredients just in case someone has allergies.
Tip #4: For exchanging Valentine?s at school, make sure your kids have the coolest mailbox.? Download and print a custom Valentine?s mailbox and let them put it together.
Tip #5: If your kids don?t have time to create their own custom Valentine?s, save yourself a few dollars and print them at home from an HP printer.? Sites like HP Creative and Snapfish have a ton of options that would make the perfect Valentine for that special someone.
