In a weekend that has been filled with tragic incidents you would think people would want to embrace each other. That wasn?t the case at Cleveland Browns stadium yesterday. The Browns fans who watched their team get beat by the Washington Redskins got into an altercation with London Fletcher?s family members. Just think how proud the Browns new owner must be after he spent 1.1 billion dollars to buy the losing franchise. What is wrong with people? On a weekend when our nation just witnessed one of the greatest tragedy?s this nation ever witnessed, one would think people would want to share nothing but love. That wasn?t the case inside Browns stadium. Fletcher who plays for the Washington Redskins is from the Cleveland Area. He performed well in the game against the Browns and he had some family members in attendance as all NFL players do when they visit their home towns.
The Cleveland Browns security arrested 3 of Fletcher?s family members following the game. Fletcher?s aunt had to be taken to the hospital to be examined due to her heart problems. The Cleveland Fans were taunting Fletcher?s family throughout the game and there is noting wrong with a few taunts. But to make national news for continuing this treatment after the game is less than acceptable. Jimmy Haslam III already had a P.R. nightmare trying to rebuild the reputation of the team. Free agents voted the Cleveland Browns as the? worst franchise to play for in the N.F.L.. Now that the team is making news in a negative manner, Haslam has an even bigger job to do.
The Browns stadium should be a safe place for people to come and visit. The fans have always been the greatest fans in the world. They can get carried away at times because their hearts are filled with passion for their team. ? But they should learn how to treat visitors to the stadium and to the city of Cleveland. Flethcer is a home town guy and just because his Redskins beat the Browns the people should have treated his family with the same respect they would want to be treated with.
Especially after the incident that took place on Friday. The world is filled with enough violence, people should be able to attend a Cleveland Browns football game and be treated with respect. No matter what team they represent.? And especially if they are home town people?? It wasn?t that long ago when a 12 year old boy was beaten up for wearing an Eagles Jersey to the Browns stadium?..When is enough going to be enough?
